All That Candy -- Now What? -- November 1, 2017
If you're like a lot of American families, your kids got tons of candy while trick-or-treating last night. They probably love it and can't wait to savor each and every piece. What you see, though, are cavities in the making.
Halloween should be fun and kids should be able to enjoy devouring their "haul" -- as long as you say it's OK. But kids also must know how important it is to brush their teeth after eating those chocolatey, often sticky treats. And therein lies the challenge for many moms and dads.
The American Dental Association understands. If you have a hard time getting your kids to brush their teeth, we want to share this video with you which was produced by the ADA: "Seven Ways to Make Brushing Fun for Kids."
Hopefully, that will give you some ideas for creating good habits for oral health care.
If you really feel like there's just too much candy at your house, we want to remind you that Walde Miller Orthodontic Specialists are holding their annual Halloween "Candy Buy Back" program. Children can earn $1.00 per pound for the candy they turn in. Schools participating can earn even more. But all candy MUST BE DROPPED OFF BY 4 P.M. NOVEMBER 2. For more information, call the office at 636-239-5151.
All candy dropped off will be sent to our troops overseas, with the help of the local VFW.
